Bears V Durham 3 day SEC
Durham won the toss and batted and amde 369. Muchell made a ton. Piolet got 3 wickets. Warwickshire were then reduced to 17/4 Ord, Newport, Webb and Mcleod all going cheapily and then Piolet 27 and the trialist took the score to 68/4 at the close. It was a strong Durham attack with Rushworth, Wood who looked impressive and Ben Harmison. I was impressed with teh way Piolet and the young trialist applied themselves. Lets hope than can go on tomorrow.

Bears XII
Ord, Newport, Johnson, Webb, Piolet, Shabir, MacLeod, Allin, Milnes, Brown, Bevan, Eburah

Durham XII
Raine, Coetze, Harmison, Smith, Muchall, Richardson, Pringle, Borthwick, Wood, Rushworth, Harding, Jones

Yes its a good test for the youngsters, currently top of the northern section, against several Durham 1sts.

Why are we not using this game to help some of our 'stars' back into form? Surely that would do some of them a lot of good.

Nah I dont agree, this has been great benefit for the young kids because they never would have played against this quality of opposition before and they will learn a lot from this. Shabir who's 17 has played two excellent knocks and gave it way both times but he will learn from that. Ord also played well 2nd innings making 50 but threw it away. Piolet has hung around both innings and is still there overnight. we are about 29 ahead with 5 wickets left. Anyway great experience for the kids. Incidently I have been told Piolet has taken 54 championship wickets this season.

A loss by 10 wickets, a very good game with some good cricket, but early drops in Durhams second innings did not help the cause, Webb and Macleod the 2 players to drop a catch at slip.
